The toddler years! If they weren’t busy and emotional enough, sometimes they’re made even more so by the arrival of a baby sibling. Bryn is an adorable but very busy toddler. She is happy to be a big sister, but is more interested in exploring than kissing baby sis. Siblings can be so challenging to photograph together! But over the years I have collected a bag of tricks to ensure that every session includes some sibling shots. Fist of all, we have to have one of big sister by herself. Then, once she has fun discovering some toys in the studio, we sit on the couch and use my favorite trick of all: hiding a treat in baby’s wrap. From there we move on to the the fuzzy blanket, an irresistible attraction for all toddlers. Out of about 50 shots, and with the aid of funny faces (and noises) from mom and dad, we capture a few shots of the two sisters together. I am guessing these shots will make it in a wedding slideshow someday… Capturing these precious little instances of love between siblings, even at such a young age, is one of my favorite parts of the job. So bring on the busy toddlers and the adorable babies!
